Fort Desoto

Welcome to Florida
FORT DESOTO
Fort DeSoto is 1,136 Acres of beautiful beaches, a historic fort and 2 piers.  There is camping and more at one of the world’s most beautiful beaches.

Special Saturday

I was cleaning out my room and found a BUNCH of postcards that I had bought for myself that hadn’t made it into scrapbooks. (Someday I will post the cards that did make my scrapbooks) Rather than make separate posts for each of them (and scan them all individually) I decided to just snap a photo of them with my phone.
New England Aquarium
There are approximately 35 known species of seahorses, varying in size from 2.5 to 35cm. Seahorses diet mainly consists of shrimp. Each day they can consume up to 3,000 brine shrimp.  They have no teeth and must swallow their food whole. Seahorse reproduction is quite unique in that the male gives birth to the young, rather than the female.
New England Aquarium
#17807 North American Lobster (Hoarus americanus)
Most American Lobsters are brown-black-green with red highlights. Blue genetic variants like this one are rare.

Little Blue Penguin
New England Aquarium
The strawberry poison dart frog is active all day long, where it climbs in the low lying vegetation of tropical rainforests preying upon a variety of insects. It relies on its brightly colored body for protection, warning predators that it is dangerous to eat. Each frog contains enough poison to kill 20,000 mice and humans can get sick just by touching them.
The golden mantella (bottom) can be found throughout the rainforests and other moist areas of Madagascar. It is approximately 1 inch long and feeds on a variety of insects including fruit flies, ants and termites.  Although its vibrant gold-orange color resembles other toxic amphibians, the golden mantella is in fact non-toxic.
Nubble Light
Cape Neddick (Nubble) Lighthouse
Buil in 1879, its beacon of red light flashes every six seconds and is visible for 13 miles. Nubble Light is considered to be one of the most photographed, illustrated and recognizable lighthouses on the east coast. It is located just 1.1 miles off Route 1A in York.
Basketball Hall of Fame
Springfield, MA
The outside player panels are the first attraction you see at the basketball Hall of Fame. Drive by and watch them take shape, then enjoy the many exhibits inside the museum.

Spaceship Earth stands as the symbol for EPCOT. It is 165 feet in diameter and rises 180 feet above the ground.
