It was a railroad bridge created for James J. hill’s St. Paul, Minneapolis and Manitoba Railway.  the last train crossed in 1978, and in 1994 it was reopened as a bike and pedestrian crossing offering spectacular views of both the Saint Anthony Falls area and the downtown skyline.
